ProxTube 1.5.1 is a standalone addon for Firefox and Google Chrome web browsers that can effectively unlock YouTube videos on your internet networks. The addon was created by a 17 years old German student called Malte who was annoyed that many of the videos he wanted to watch is blocked by GEMA.
GEMA is the organizations that block YouTube videos in Germany due to copyright rules. The addon can unblock YouTube videos not just in Germany but also in other countries where YouTube videos are restricted. Some of the countries the addon supports are Netherlands and Spain. The addon is not suitable to be used in the USA. There is no need to use your own proxy because ProxTube has its own servers.
It relies on America based proxy servers to unblock the videos on YouTube. The proxy is used in loading the YouTube website. No proxy is used in loading the video. YouTube will think that you are a visitor from USA when you use the ProxTube extension. For ProxTube Chrome extension, you must drop the .crx file onto the extension in Google Chrome.
After installing the addon, a small button will appear on the browser toolbar. If the ProxTube button is greyed out, it means that it is not activated. ProxTube is activated when the button is red color. Whenever you want to activate ProxTube, you simply click on the button. You can customize the button position by right clicking on the Tab Strip.
The ProxTube addon comes with a Foxydeal shopping toolbar. The toolbar is automatically installed when you install the ProxTube addon. It is used for covering the expenses of the servers since it is completely free. You can deactivate the Foxydeal shopping toolbar by going to Options. In order for ProxTube to work, make sure you deactivated the ProxyTube addon.
