In connection with the identification of new methods for accelerating the selection of collisions in the hash algorithm SHA-1. Mozilla project developers have decided to change the time of the termination of support for the SHA-1 on Firefox. Taking into account the fact that the SHA-1 is still quite widely used in the network, it was decided to shift the deadline to stop supporting the SHA-1 in Firefox c January 1, 2017 to July 1, 2016. Thus, a complete cessation of the credibility of the certificates authenticated using SHA-1 will be terminated on six months ahead of schedule. Instead of SHA-1 for generating signature recommended SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512.
Supplement: By evaluating NetCraft about 25% of the sites continue to be used for HTTPS certificates, certified using the SHA-1.
