Firefox ESR 45.2.0 ESR is an Extensive Support Release web browser designed for use in an environment that deploy a large number of desktop computers for example, colleges, government and business office building. It is a community led project with the aim of providing a browser that is fast, flexible and secure for organizations.
The ESR version does not have the latest feature as in the Firefox browser designed for individual use. It takes a few more development cycles for the latest features on the regular browser version to become available in the Firefox ESR browser. You can sign up for Enterprise Working Group (EWG) to get regular updates on the browser.
Every ESR browser has a life cycle of one year. They release a new version of ESR browser every year and the new ESR browser version release will be based on the regular version. The maintenance of every ESR release is carried out via point releases. This include fixes to security issues that involve a high level of risks, and stability fixes. There will be off schedule releases to fix live security issues on the browser
The support for the particular ESR version will come to and end at the end of the life cycle so that there won’t be any further updates. The updates for the next version will be available via the application update service. The ESR has 2 cycles with each spanning 12 weeks, to run a test on the older version before releasing the new version.
