Although the new compression algorithm Brotli comes from the workshop of Google, first he deployed and tested him just Firefox. Tested him since November 2015 in the developer edition of its browser – incidentally version number 44. The 44 had already elevated and stable version of the browser and a new compression Brotli will be able to try all Firefox users.
Compression format Brotli
Brotli is a compression algorithm, Google will be considered a completely new data format.Has achieved excellent results in compression of the current web content (it is about 17-25% more efficient than gzip compression utility), very fast and decompresses specially handles well sites using the WOFF font optimization 2.0. Fully usable on the connection using the secure HTTPS protocol, and we know its full power until the moment when it will be supported by the web servers. Firefox it first deployed not only in development versions of Chrome overtook but also as regards the stable version. Brotli a fact finding trip to the 49th version of Google Chrome’s stable branch.
In what follows, however, Firefox, Chrome, are push notifications, which introduces only now (in the Chrome since version 42). They are displayed directly on the screen – as other warnings, may of course be delivered even if the site is not loaded. The delivery of such messages (alerts from mailers, social networking etc.) May not have a user open a page, simply enable them to deliver push notifications and let the browser run in the background.
Among other innovations can be found turning on the H.264 codec if the system supports it – or WebM / VP9, if the system does not support H.264 H.264. Android version of FF44 delivers support printing via Google Cloud Print.
Besides 3 critical and 9 additional holes security is strengthened by a new Firefox:
- zastarávajícího off RC4 encryption for secure HTTPS connection,
- shortening the list of trusted certificates of the two;
- a new way of warning against untrusted connections and certificates;
- implementation of SHA-256 for signing certificates.
Developers forty-fourth version of the FF brings built-in JSON reader, a ruler to measure the dimensions and positions, visual tools for animation and new APIs: API Service Workers and the WebSocket API Debugging.
