The Flash cookie allows online businesses to carry out unlimited tracking on the users for market research purposes. This add-on was developed to create awareness among internet users about the existence of cookies that are used in tracking their activities on the web. Flash cookies work in all kinds of flash applications.
They take up a space that is 25 times larger than regular cookies. Flash cookies can be dangerous because they can hack into the sensitive information stored o your computer such as passwords and credit card details. BetterPrivacy 1.74 offers protection against the DOM storage. It does not create any interruptions in your web browsing and will silently remove the cookies.
The add-on allows you to decide how you want the cookies to be removed. With BetterPrivacy 1.74, you can set the cookies to be automatically deleted at the launch of the browser or when the browser quits. There is an option that allows you to configure the timer where the cookies within a set timeframe. The timer can delay some time in the automatic deletion of the flash cookies. Automatic deletion of the cookies will not result in any negative impact on your computer system. You can disable automatic cookies deletion if you prefer to manage the cookies manually.
Deleting all LSO cookies can result in the loss of your game settings if you play games. It can also delete all your saved login data online so that you have to retype the login and password. Therefore, you must remember to exclude these cookies by specifying them in the filter so that they won’t become automatically deleted. BetterPrivacy can work with the official Firefox releases and it does not support ESR versions.
